🔹 1 in 100 people (around 320,000 Malaysians) has Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) which is an inherited condition that causes very high LDL ("bad") cholesterol from birth.
Unlike common high cholesterol, FH is caused by a genetic mutation, not simply by diet or lifestyle. Without early diagnosis and proper treatment, it can lead to premature heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular diseases.
⚠️ If one parent has FH, each child has a 50% chance of inheriting the condition.
❤️ The good news? Early detection and the right medication can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease. While healthy eating and regular exercise are important, they are usually not enough to control FH on their own.
